The Spanish Society for Nitrogen Fixation, nationwide, is constituted within the framework that the Associations Law of December 24, 1964 and complementary provisions regulates and adjusting, likewise, to the provisions of the Complementary Regulations to said Law according to Decree 1440 / 65. The purpose of SEFIN is to promote the development of Nitrogen Fixation in Spain in all its branches and activities.
The objectives of SEFIN as reflected in its statutes are:
- Promote the development of nitrogen fixation and beneficial interactions between plants and microorganisms.
- Promote the organisation of scientific meetings and any other means that serve to establish and maintain contact between all those interested in the subject.
- Promote visits to Spain by foreign scientists of relevant prestige in the field of specialisation.
- Establish relationships with other societies specialising in this field in other countries and with related sciences in Spain, provided that this can contribute effectively to the development of nitrogen fixation and the scientific work of its members.
